It’s time we all sat down and developed some rules for this exact situation that happened to me earlier. Someone asked me for directions to the same place that I was headed to. We were too far away from the place to walk together in a way that I felt acceptable between two strangers. My directions were very vague and I had to watch him ask someone else for better ones. Then, at the venue...

Rules for going to a gig on your own
All of which I have broken. The wall is your friend. No-one wants to see a guy in the middle, at the side is where it’s less depressing for people to see you. Save up text messages til inbetween bands. That way at least you have shown you have a social life at other times in your life. Visit the bar in breaks between bands. Plus the drink gives you something to do with your hands. ...

The world needs another Lost blog
I just re-watched the lost finale and have realised what was wrong with this season. The part of season six that wasn’t on the island was actually a spin off show. It had nothing to do with the show and according to the end nothing that happened in it had any real consequence. When Faraday’s mum gets emotional about Daniel going with Desmond it doesn’t matter. Which is a shame however Sawyer...

Why my phone is locked
The screen capture feature on the iphone leads to a weird photo gallery. Heres Don and Joan in Mad Men then some cute puppies. Joel from Brian Jonestown Massacre in Gilmore Girls The greatest actor of his generation talking to Jack Nicholson A football on the train tracks that was miles from anywhere someone would play football. Orlando Bloom in his most convincing role ever. ...

There was an old episode of man vs wild on and it was one of the best ever. Bear was in Siberia and he had a deer that he said he was going to use but he didn’t say what for. He cut off the leg and said it would make a good walking stick. He held the top of the bone and dug the hoof into the snow. He definitely could have used a stick but the deer leg looked way more awesome. He then went...

Beach House yay!
I’m writing this as I sit on the floor of my train. There are only three carriages and it is completely packed. That didn’t stop a businessman (in his suit and tie) from sitting in the aisle seat to block the other people. I have just come from beach house at the bush hall. The venue is always nice. It’s on a normal looking road in shepherds bush but when you go in there are...

Way to drop the ball Olympics. But seriously isn’t the whole idea of the Olympics about amateurs and the purity of sport. Even if that died a long time ago letting the smaller countries in is a way of reflecting this. The British ski team has literally no money and the best place to ski is inside but they are still there so why not support smaller countries…and John Candy worked...

My Wasted Day?
Today I watched 5 games in 5 different sports. My life is possibly spinning mundanely out of control. First up was Scotland vs France in the rugby. France no longer have the worst coach ever holding them back and that is scary. Also Scotland looked good enough to win the unofficial 5/6th place playoff against Italy. I watched the first half of Chelsea Arsenal and realised it was going to end...

Explaining the rules of the NFL eventhough it’s the last game of the season and has been shown in the country for over 30 years. Awkward interviews with players. Usually ones with really loose connections to England. This year it’s Sean Payton who used to play for Leicester. Awkward 2 minute analysis when America goes to a commercial break. A presenter who is delighted to have work...

Vivian Girls Jericho Tavern 15 Jan
I’m not Lester Bangs but here’s my sprawling and self-centered gig review in which I barely review the actual gig. Sealings were the opening support act and it falls unfair for me to talk about them because they are my friends and I think it’s impossible for me to seperate that when I listen to them. Having said that, I think that Mike and Liam write great riffs cloaked in...

Somersault
I just watched somersault which was very enjoyable. It’s an indie film starring a pretty girl on a journey of self discovery so there is basically no way I couldn’t not like it. My favourite criticism on lovefilm was that at time the camera was wobbly. Let’s hope they stick to hollywood blockbusters from now on. The films from 2004 and what stands out now and didn’t the...
