Today I watched 5 games in 5 different sports. My life is possibly spinning mundanely out of control. First up was Scotland vs France in the rugby. France no longer have the worst coach ever holding them back and that is scary. Also Scotland looked good enough to win the unofficial 5/6th place playoff against Italy. I watched the first half of Chelsea Arsenal and realised it was going to end badly. The team with the idiot adulterer and sex tape stars were going to win. I then watched ice hockey. I never watch ice hockey except when Ovechkin is involved. It looks like the NHL are still pushing Crosby but Ovechkin’s goals and overtime assist meant he was the star. The guy is transcendent whilst Crosby is the next in a long line. I watched the Celtics Magic game. The celtics look really old. If they have to play Atlanta in the playoffs then they are done. Garnett did show some touches though. I then got worried that ice hockey would be the best sport I saw all day. When I was on the train to New Orleans the saints were about to play the pats and were still unbeaten. In the cafe car a woman said to me that all she wanted to see was the saints in the superbowl. Even if they lost at least they could say they got there. With all the talk of Peyton being one of the greatest ever if he wins the negative side of me thought that if they lose what will people think of him. Feels like this loss means he lost the chance to go ahead of Brady. It also means Brees becomes more than just really good, he becomes the guy who brought New Orleans a championship. I like how one game can affect the way a career is viewed. It feels like a good way to end the day, with some kind of fairness being earnt.
Although I do wonder if I didn’t just waste my day.
